Lost in Japan

If you missed the season premiere, you’re probably asking yourself: How the heck is Takezo Kensei white?!?

Zachary Quinto, Milo Ventimiglia Shrug Off Pressure

A Zachary Quinto Picture How does Heroes stand out from other popular shows on TV? Zachary Quinto - who was mostly absent from last night’s season two premiere - says that his series focuses on broad, important issu

“It’s not just that people like to talk about our show, it’s the themes of the show,” Quinto said. “The show is about saving the world. The show is about people waking up to their own power to make a difference.

“It’s not like the entire world is talking about the sex scene in the shower at the hospital with the doctors, or the lawyers in the bathroom, or whatever.”

“There always is going to be pressure, no matter whether it’s the first, second, third, fourth or fifth season,” Ventimiglia said.

“I think you have to strive to better yourself and better your characters. But this show always is going to be a big one to make. So I think, if anything, it reminds us not to slow down and not to slack off, to do better and to grow.”

A Chat with Mrs. Petrelli, Cristine Rose

Based on the season two premiere, Heroes will be focusing on the older generation a bit more this year.

That probably sounds great to Cristine Rose, who plays the infamous mother to Nathan and Peter Petrelli. She recently spoke with TV Guide:

Cristine RoseTVGuide.com: It’s been a blast loving Mama Petrelli even though we can’t trust her.
Rose: Oh, I think she’s just misunderstood and misguided! I have to play her with the intent that she’s good and that she’s a nurturer… yet a nurturer who’s not averse to violence. This part really juices me up!

TVGuide.com: Word is, she drops quite a bombshell in the Oct. 15 episode.
Rose: Yes, the shocking confession. It’s about the murder. She is in the thick of it. She has a lot of secrets, and she’ll be doling them out.

TVGuide.com: Well, if I were you, I’d dole them out very slowly — especially with this death-card thing hanging over your head. Of course, nothing is ever what it seems on your show.
Rose: And things can turn at any given moment. Every time I think I have Angela pinned down as to who and what she is, I’ll read the next script and everything has changed. Last season I took some solace in the fact that I wasn’t heavier in the stories because that meant there was no need or interest in killing me. As exciting as things are for me on the show these days, I am now a marked woman! But… [Pregnant pause]

TVGuide.com: But what?
Rose: Are we really sure Angela is not a part of [Kaito's death]? I will tell you this about the next few episodes: My character crosses paths with the other heroes and none of them are very happy about it.

TVGuide.com: Angela’s fury toward her son Nathan [Adrian Pasdar] is a fearsome thing to behold.
Rose: Not only did Nathan destroy all her plans that had been building up for decades, she blames him for killing her beloved son Peter [Milo Ventimiglia]. It’s all blown up in her face. They’ve got me doing monologue after monologue like Lear, just ranting and raving.

While you’re at it, however, here’s a spoiler about next week’s episode, entitled “Lizards.” It’s courtesy of Kristin from E! Online…

At the Emmys, Jimmy Jean-Louis (the Haitian) said his character returns in the second episode. According to the actor:

“He will connect with some other people. He’s very much with Mr. Bennet still, but he is going to be working with some others, including a doctor. And he speaks a little bit more, but he still has his powers. Actually his powers are getting stronger.”

Could that doctor be Mohinder? Another new character? Guess we’ll have to tune in to find out!

Heroes Caption Contest IX

Our thanks to the numerous readers who submitted an entry in this week’s Heroes Caption Contest. It was our biggest turnout yet.

The funniest response, though, was both witty and relevant. After all, rumors of Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia (aka “Halo”) dating have been heating up celebrity gossip sites and magazines.

It makes sense that Nathan wouldn’t want Hiro to help fuel this speculation. Hence, the winning caption - sent in by username “=p” - posted below the photo…

Shhh… Lips are already buzzing about Halo, are you trying to make it worse??

More Names Sign on for Heroes: Origins

Kevin Smith isn’t the only film scribe on board for Heroes: Origins.

Word is circulating that both Eli Roth (Hostel) and Michael Dougherty (Superman Returns, X-Men 2) are preparing to write and/or direct episodes.

Lots of Heroes

The six-episode Heroes: Origins will launch in the spring, after the main show’s sophomore run has ended. It will focus on characters not previously seen on the series. Viewers will then vote on which new Heroes they’d like to see join the mother ship for Season 3.

Dania Ramírez Speaks on Heroes Role

We’ve already heard from one new member of the Heroes cast today, David Anders.

Now, here are a few snippets of an interview Dania Ramirez conducted recently with IGN TV:

Dania Ramírez PicIGN TV: You’ve had a busy year, so I’m curious if you even had a chance to see Heroes last season before you went in for the part.
Dania Ramirez: Well, actually I saw it all before I started working on the season. I hadn’t seen it all when prior to starting the second season. I knew about the show, of course. I think there’s about nine people in the world that have never heard of the show.

So I’d heard of it, but I’d never watched it prior to them wanting to test me, partially because I was in New York for a long period of time filming the last season of Sopranos and then I was doing a film, so I was just busy, so I hadn’t really caught up in watching the show.

But right before I tested, one of my really good friends, who’s such a huge fan, when I told her, she was like “Oh my god! You’re crazy, you have to be on this show!” And she came over to my house and she had all the episodes from iTunes, and we just sat down and watched. And by episode eight, I just couldn’t stop watching! I was obsessed!

IGN TV: So how excited were you when you actually got the role?
Ramirez: Oh my god, honestly, I’m blessed. The producers and I think some of the writers had seen my work on Sopranos, and so they wanted me to come in for anything at one point. Then eventually [Heroes executive producer] Tim Kring said he was creating a Latin character and they were like “Oh, let’s look at this girl.” So when they called me, and had me test, they never opened the audition to anybody else. They wanted me to be good and nail it and all I had to do was not mess it up. No pressure! [Laughs]
