Heroes Caption Contest XVII

As always, we appreciate all the submissions to this week's Heroes Caption Contest. For this edition, a majority focused on Zachary Quinto's immediate future: playing Spock in the upcoming Star Trek movie.

But the winning response came from "Giri," who combined the writers' strike and Sylar topless.

Take a look at the most humorous entry below the picture and remember to come back and play every week. The next winner might be... YOU!

Sylar: They told me to take my shirt off to compensate for the writer's strike.
Maya: QUE?

Hayden Panettiere Dishes on Style

In the December/January issue of Seventeen Magazine, Heroes star Hayden Panettiere sounds off on her personal fashion choices.

Here are snippets of the article:

Her style: "My style has evolved and become more sophisticated. It's grown with my personality."

Seventeen Magazine

Her fashion obsession: "Shoes are definitely my guilty pleasure. I have these Givenchy shoes that are a deep plum patent leather. They are stunning. And I love my Louis Vuittons."

Her cheaper thrill: "Hale bob, Shoe-wise, they're great, and they're not an arm and a leg. And you know what else? Forever 21. You can find great things there–they're all over the place. I bought a top there for $4."

Netflix to Offer Heroes Online

Netflix has sealed a deal with NBC Universal to begin offering online episodes of Heroes. The episodes will appear on Netflix's website the day after they air on NBC.

Under the agreement, Netflix subscribers will also be able to view past episodes of other NBC series, including 30 Rock, Friday Night Lights and The Office, via rented DVD or on Netflix's website.

The Bennets

According to Netflix content acquisition VP Robert Kyncl, the deal is part of a larger effort to start offering more TV content on its website. Currently, about 20% of the company's traditional DVD rental business consists of TV properties; Netflix is looking to assign the same percentage in the digital space.

"Netflix's aggregate content on DVD right now is 90,000 individual titles," Kyncl said. "My mandate is to continue increasing the availability of the same content in digital. We currently have 5,000 titles available. Our goal is to increase that in order to offer our subscribers multiple delivery options."

For NBC, the Netflix deal is the third prong in its off-network Heroes strategy, which gives the online movie rental service the exclusive subscription video-on-demand rights to the show.

"This deal reflects the changing landscape of the entertainment marketplace and our objective of finding new buyers that complement our traditional customers," said NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution exec VP-general sales manager Frances Manfredi.

Heroes Preview: Powerless

We're just a few days away from the Heroes winter finale. As we hope and pray that the writers' strike comes to an end and Monday's show isn't the season finale, here's NBC's official preview for it:

Deep below Primatech Paper in Odessa, TX, Peter's (Milo Ventimiglia) reunion with Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) turns violent when the brothers, Matt (Greg Grunberg) and Hiro (Masi Oka) all clash thanks to Adam (David Anders) and his pursuit of the deadly Shanti Virus.

After watching his heroic cousin captured by a street gang, Micah (Noah Gray-Cabey) turns to the one person who can help him save Monica (Dana Davis): his mom (Ali Larter).

Meanwhile, Maya (Dania Ramirez) tragically learns how much of a monster Sylar (Zachary Quinto) really is during his kidnapping of Molly (Adair Tishler) and Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy). Also, Elle (Kristen Bell) decides to play hero to get back into her father's (Stephen Tobolowsky) good graces.

Heroes Spoilers: Which Characters Will Fall?

Two Heroes will fall. One villain will rise.

We all heard the voiceover and saw the preview for this Monday's Heroes episode, right? But just which characters will perish? And will they really be gone forever? This is Heroes, after all...

Kristin from E! Online, wrote the following spoilers/teasers regarding who we can expect to say goodbye to next week:

We'll call the first death Final, the second death Uncertain and the third death Reversed (thanks to Claire's miracle juice - yay!). (And no, they don't go down in that order.)

HRG Lives!

Although you may be shocked by all of these deaths - because they are all series regulars and very pretty people! - you probably won't cry over Final or Reversed (that's just my hunch). But if Uncertain turns out to stick, well, let's just say the Heroes producers best be stocking up on some hazmat suits for the s--t storm that's about to erupt! The fans will not be happy.

(In other winter-finale news, Mama Petrelli just might be the worst mother ever in the history of the planet, while Noah Bennet has my vote for Father of the Year, while Sylar is the Comeback Kid.)

Heroes Round Table: Truth & Consequences

Welcome to our tenth Heroes Round Table.

While fans of the show gather in the heroes-rt11.jpg

Better bad guy: Adam or Sylar?
Milover: Sylar. Merely looking at that guy gives me the chills at this point. You've gotta to be morally bankrupt to ice some fool and then mack on his sister in the same day. That is some cold $h!t.

Timex: I think I prefer Adam. I might just be a sucker for his accent, but he seems way better at manipulating. I'm pretty sure Sylar's only been able to manipulate the two biggest idiots on the show - Mohinder and Maya. And really now? Who hasn't been able to manipulate Mohinder?

A. Hiro: Adam. Sylar is a cool serial killer, for sure. But the murderous Monroe seems to think he's doing the world a favor (by wiping it out, of course). I like my villains with shades of grey.
First, Fatal Base What will happen to Monica?
Timex: I think she's going to be initiated into their gang... bang.

A. Hiro: That souped up SUV she was thrown into must have DVD player in it. I foresee those thugs watching a preview of Iron Man... and then paying the ultimate price for it as Monica takes on the unstoppable qualities of that title character.

Milover: We'll find out in 2009 when they pick this one up. You might assume that Monica, after using her superpowers to help recover the backpack, only to be apprehended, has some tricks up her sleeve. Well, given the way Season Two is going, this story should be dropped indefinitely, then made the subject of an entire episode 18 months from now. Come on, guys.

Slight Heroes spoiler alert: Which two characters, as teased in the preview, will die next week?
A. Hiro: Mohinder's purpose for being on the show died long ago. The doctor's body will follow next. While my eyes hope I'm wrong in choosing Niki as the other character to perish, my head says I'm right. Her only real power was pretty being insane anyway.

Milover: Anyone but Claire, Peter, Hiro, Niki, Mohinder, Parkman, Nathan, Sylar, Mr. Bennet or Bob. Save these Heroes and you've still got a show.

Timex: Okay, just as a reminder, the preview had Nathan, Parkman, Claire, Hiro, and Elle shown. Picking two of these is nearly impossible, but I'm going to have to go with Nathan and Elle. Parkman is just learning his powers, Claire cannot seem to die, and Hiro is, well, the show. Sorry, guys, we have enough Petrellis and hot blondes without you.

Heroes Preview: Truth and Consequences

With just two episodes to go in this chapter of Heroes, here's a look at Monday's new episode, "Truth and Consequences."

Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) travels to Primatech Paper in Texas with his new friend to destroy the virus, which will kill 93 percent of the world's population in the future — or so he believes

(Ali Larter) returns to Micah (Noah Gray-Cabey) with bad news. To right a wrong, Monica (Dana Davis) puts her abilities to the test while Hiro (Masi Oka) goes after his father's killer.

Meanwhile, Matt (Greg Grunberg) uses his mental abilities to track down the last person in the company photo. In addition, Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) learns his brother is alive.

Outside of New York, Maya (Dania Ramirez) must choose between Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) and Sylar (Zachary Quinto).

David Anders Dishes on Role of Takezo Kensei/Adam Monroe

David Anders PictureDid David Anders know he'd be playing a dual role on Heroes when he signed up for the part?

That was one of many questions asked of the actor by BuddyTV. Here are excerpts from the interview:

When you first auditioned, what did you know? We assume they wanted to keep the twist that you're also Kensei and Adam Monroe a little secret. So did you know you were auditioning for two roles?
Not really. No, not really. I think they fed me morsels at a time of information to inform my character arc. The Heroes set is shrouded in secrecy even from the Heroes actors.

As the scripts went along I kind of saw the direction it was going. I'd ask, you know I'd corner an executive producer or writer and say, "Come on, you've got to give it to me and tell me what the heck's to come." And they would. Still, even at this point I don't know where Adam Monroe is going to end up. I don't know, there's some element of surprise and fun in that, but it can also be frustrating.

How late into the game then, after you got the role, did you find out that you'd stop being this you know, feudal Japanese hero and come into the future?
It was probably about five episodes in when I realized that, when they told me that. Masi Oka would come up and he'd have some information he heard from a writer and then I'd have to go corner that writer. Dig for information.
