Heroes Preview: Four Months Ago

Monday looks to be the biggest Heroes episode of the season. Titled “Four Months Ago,” it will review how our favorite characters ended up where we found them to begin season two.

Here’s the official preview:

When the clock turns back four months for all of the Heroes, Nathan pays a terrible cost for his heroic actions. While Peter survives his detonation over New York City, the Company “bags” him as a threat to the world, eventually leading to violent confrontation with Elle (Kristen Bell) and the Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis).

D.L. (Leonard Roberts) makes the ultimate sacrifice for Niki (Ali Larter) and Micah (Noah Gray-Cabey). Maya (Dania Ramirez) horrifically manifests her dark powers for the first time, driving her and Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) to America for help.

A mysterious, yet familiar face is introduced.

Greg Grunberg Talks About Writers Strike, Heroes Episodes

Greg Grunberg PicOur friends at BuddyTV recently spoke to Greg Grunberg about how Heroes is dealing with the current writers strike. Here’s what the actor had to say:

The writers’ strike is fresh in everyone’s minds. How is that affecting Heroes and the production?
Well, it’s interesting, we got a really early jump on the season, the writers did at least, we were way ahead which is a really good thing for awhile. But as you know in TV, as soon as the episodes start airing, it quickly catches up to you.

We had a couple extra scripts but now we’re pretty much caught up and I hope this thing gets resolved very quickly because we all want to get back to work.

We’re still shooting, but we have another couple weeks and then we go down because the writers don’t have any finished. You know, they have, basically a break-down and some outlines of the next few scripts, but nothing complete enough for us to keep shooting.

It’s frustrating because we’ve been on such a roll this year, especially right now with all the stories, you know. It’s a shame, I hope it gets resolved quickly.

Next week is the flashback to four months ago.
Right, right, right. Which is so cool. I love that we do that on our show, especially because people have been waiting. They’re like, “I don’t understand! What?” There’s some major looming questions that I think people have. We were, I think, possibly better at it last year at answering all these questions early on.

I think it’s taken a little longer this year, over the course of more episodes to answer some questions, but everything will be answered as far as, how did they get from that explosion at Kirby Plaza to where they are, when we started four months later. A lot of those questions, almost all of them, are answered next week.

Tim Kring Responds to Heroes Questions, Complaints

Tim Kring is doing damage control. The Heroes creator recently spoke to TV Guide and actually acknowledged mistakes made in season two, while responding to questions from fans.

We’re impressed. Here’s the interview:

Will Mohinder ever have a power?
Not likely. “He’s Mr. Science and was conceived to be the one guy in this vortex who does not have special abilities,” Kring said. “We have no plans to change that.”

Using His Head Which is fine with Sendhil Ramamurthy:

“I’d be sorely disappointed if I got a power at this point — it would just be weird. But I wouldn’t mind turning out to be the puppet master of this whole thing.”

Will Hana (Stana Katic) ever be seen again? What about Claude (Christopher Eccleston)?
Though Israeli freedom fighter Hana died in outer space in a Heroes graphic novel last spring, her consciousness survives. “We will see her again on the show at some point,” promised co-executive producer Jeph Loeb. But invisible man Claude? That’s trickier.

“We wanted Christopher back this season because he’s so integrated into the mythology of our show, not only because he was Peter’s mentor but also because of his connection to HRG,” said Kring. “But it probably won’t work because of his schedule — he’s too in demand.”

Why didn’t Isaac warn HRG about the painting that predicted his death?
“Isaac was in a drug-addled fugue state when he created his paintings,” Kring said. “There could also be a moral dilemma in telling someone they’re going to die. If you had the ability to know the circumstances of your death, would you want that information?”

Loeb tosses us another option: “If you go back and look at Isaac’s last day, there is an implication that he painted a lot more that day. This is a device we may return to. There may be even more Isaac paintings out there.”

What the hell is Niki’s power, anyway?
“We thought this was very clear on the air,” Loeb said. “Niki’s power is the same as her alternate personality Jessica’s: unbelievable strength. They’re the same person. Niki discovered her special ability through her split personality, but it was always her ability.”

Heroes Spoilers: What Happened Four Months Ago?

A Roundhouse After a stellar Heroes episode this week, we truly cannot wait until Monday. How come? As that hour’s title promises us, we get to find out what happened “Four Months Ago” to our favorite characters.

Fortunately, Kristin of E! Online has the following Heroes hints to help us along the way…

What Lies Behind? This is the big question that is answered in the next episode, which flashes back four months to the night of the big boom. In this episode, you fall head over heels for Kristen Bell as Elle, because she’s hilarious and mischievous and just all-around awesome. And, oh yeah, did I mention she and Milo kiss?! Gaaaah!

Sign me up for freeze frame on that one. We also learn that D.L. did not die when we thought he did but rather indirectly at the hands of Niki’s new alter ego: a naughty school girl.

Bloody Good Twist:  Claire’s got some serious mojo (read: blood) that can indeed save the world. You didn’t think that good ol’ slogan of yesterseason was already played out, didya? Long live the bloody good cheerleader who can save the world! And in fact, I’m told she’ll rescue at least two main characters in the coming month.

Maya Is Worse than Sylar:  As least as far as body count. You’ll see!

Heroes Ratings Continue to Plummet

While Monday’s episode of Heroes was easily the best of the season, the series hit a season-low this week, with just 9.68 million viewers.

This is sci-fi drama’s worst performance since it debuted in September 2006.

Who is Adam Monroe?

Heroes Round Table: Out of Time

Welcome to our seventh Heroes Round Table.

While fans of the show gather in the forums to discuss every character and story line, our staff comes together every week to analyze the latest developments from the latest episode.

Topics in this edition include: Mohinder’s decision-making; Niki’s fate; and two sad goodbyes. Let’s get to the Q&A…

Mohinder told Bob he’s been working with Mr. Bennet: Shrewd strategy to fully earn The Company’s trust, or moronic blunder?
A. Hiro: Mohinder is good with genetics, not decisions. Remember when he initially trusted Sylar? Eden McCain? I wish I could say the good doctor had a shrewd strategy in mind, but history tells us otherwise.

Milover: Gotta be a shrewd strategy. Right? No way he’s that stupid to just blurt that out to Bob. That would be the biggest blunder since I accidentally threw out that Milo Ventimiglia shirtless pic.

Timex: Moronic blunder. Mohinder may be a doctor, but he seems to lack the brains. When will he realize that Mr. Bennet is the man, not The Company? Did HRG tell you to tell The Company you guys were working together? Then, shut up.

Will Niki die?
Milover: Niki’s toast. The only way she lives is if a group of scab writers cross the picket lines and completely alter Heroes while the regular writing team strikes. Wages, schmages. Back to work, losers!

Timex: There’s no way.  Save the Cheerleader, Save the Niki.

A. Hiro: I don’t know, but I either way, Ali Larter naked pics will last forever!

Different HeroesSadder goodbye: Peter and Caitlin, or Hiro and Yaeko?
Timex: Who the hell is Caitlin?  We will miss you Yaeko.

A. Hiro: This is a trick question, right? I haven’t stopped drinking champagne since both these Heroes finally bid farewell to the women that had been holding them back. Seriously. I’m wasted right now.

Milover: Hiro and Yaeko was the sadder goodbye, which is ironic as the Hiro we know and love actually returned last night. Man. Hearing a vintage “Yatta!” out of Hiro brought back memories of the olden days. Ah… April.

Where should The Bennets move to?
A. Hiro: Seattle. There, Claire’s whining abilities can be closely matched by another citizen in the city. Yes, Meredith Grey, I’m looking at you.

Milover: Dillon, Texas. It would be a homecoming of sorts for the Bennets … and also make my TV fantasy come true if Claire joined the same cheerleading squad as Lyla Garrity. Serious cross-promoting potential for NBC there!

Timex: I hear Scranton, Pennsylvania has a booming paper industry there.  Maybe Mr. Bennet can get a nice job working at The Office.

Heroes News: Season Finale Being Shot

Troubling news for Heroes - and television - fans:

The second season of Heroes may be coming to a close a lot sooner than expected. The reason? The impending writers’ strike in Hollywood.

Bang!

Sources tell TV Guide that the show is going back and shooting an alternate ending to the December 3 episode that, if used, would allow the episode to function as a season finale in the event of a strike.

Originally, the episode was only supposed to serve as the conclusion of the current “Generations” arc. Hopefully, if a last-second agreement can be reached and a strike averted, the alternate ending would likely be scrapped.
