How Would You Fix Heroes?

Heroes is broken.

This is difficult for even the most loyal fan to debate now that the series has fired a pair of veteran producers due to low ratings, poor budgeting and critical lambasting across the Internet.

With those problems in mind, TV Guide has offered a few solutions for the show. To wit:

PROBLEM: The Heroes have no lives.
SOLUTION: Make them go into hiding again and live "real" lives.
Season 3 has consisted of a series of fool's errands. Hiro tries to infiltrate the bad guys, but why is unclear. Claire decides to go rogue and round up the Level 5 bad guys. Nathan mostly mopes and takes the vague advice of a spectral Linderman, as if he's a trusted advisor. The Heroes need to re-enter "real" life, with jobs, spouses, and mortgages. Remember when Peter was a nurse? It added a certain human dimension to his character that no number of scars or overwrought parental confrontations can.

Sounds sensible to us. How about you?

Fighting Friends

Hiro looks as confused about season three as most viewers have been.

    Wow, i dont understand.
I honestly love this season to bits.

I'm really sad, I love this season but I have to admit some things have been pretty stupid and others confusing(such as Meredith now being an ass kicker when the first time we saw her she was using her powers to light on a cigarette). To add more suspense they should kill either Mohinder, Tracy or Matt.

    Sounds absolutely terrible.

If you had such powers why on earth would you stick with your "normal job", which for most people is a grim hell of boredom and subservience.

That's partly why I'm enjoying this season so much, because it explores these themes: for example, why should Claire have to school when there are far more important things for her to do? Why should Hiro be satisfied with being the boss of a huge corporation when it so obviously is not satisfying?

The show is great. Quit whining already.

I'm more concerned with fixing this site. Why should people continue to visit a site filled with so much negativity? I would like to see changes, such as columns written about the characters and not necessarily the storylines. Humrous things looking at things like maybe Peter should retired because he keeps putting the world in serious trouble, or Hiro learning self defense so he doesn;t keep getting knocked out. If the negativity continues and there is nothing worth reviewing on here, I will surely visit other sites and I'm sure others will eventually follow suit.

  6. Joel Says:

I agree with Mista J completely. Ever since I became a reader of this site months ago, all I ever read were how bad the episodes were and how the show is in crisis. This site should not be www.heroesfanatic.com, but www.HeroesSucks.com. Heroes obviously doesn't suck and I think this season is FANTASTIC. Its the best season of Heroes so far. Those who doesn't understand all the time travelling and stuff need to get a life. All the future that we saw is the same, and now the season is pretty clear about what is going to happen. Arthur Petrelli is gathering up villains and some heroes to work for him. He wants the formula to be created and the world to be destroyed. But heroes are trying to prevent that from happening. Before the start of this season, it was mentioned that good and bad sides of heroes and villains will be shown. THAT HAPPENED INDEED. Here are a few character examples, Peter, Claire, Noah, Sylar, Hiro, Daphne, Angela, Mohinder, Elle, and lots more. "Good will battle Evil". TRUE. So what's so bad about this season?? I think it is great. Anyone who think Heroes is a series in crisis need to fuck off and get a damn life. Go watch Lost instead, which is a true example of a series in crisis. From 23 million viewers to 11 million, that is the correct example. Heroes? NAH.

  7. Joel Says:

Anyway, I didn't mean to insult this site. Its just that it is full of "Heroes is in crisis" stuff and I would love to see more of stuff like "A great episode of Heroes". I agree with all 5 people who have commented above me.

dont think it needs fixing :D my fav season yet :D

  9. Ben Says:

Heroes cannot be saved, It is pure garbage. The first season was good, but they really dropped the ball. It feels like they're just making it up as it goes along. They introduce way too many characters that I have zero affinity with. What the hell happened to that black girl who could learn things at an amazing rate? We never hear what happens to her. At this point, I have no clue what is going on. The writers and producers on the show are demonstrably less talented than those who work on far superior shows like Lost and The Wire.

  10. Ben Says:

Joel has no idea what he is talking about. Lost is a far superior show that actually engages the viewer and knows where it is going. They dropped the ball in Season 3, but they were able to recover the fumble, unlike Heroes, which is a convoluted mess. Joel goes on to compare ratings to the quality of the show, which is an utter fallacy as anyone with half a mind knows that popularity is a piss poor indicator of quality. The fact is, even Tim Kring acknowledges that Heroes has serious problems. I don't understand how anyone likes Heroes anymore. It is such utter garbage and will be cancelled soon.

I agree with everything Ben said. I read that the writers were canned, and the onus now rests on Tim Kring to resurrect the series. I thought season 2 was bad, but it was a masterpiece compared to season 3, which is a convoluted mess. Pretty sad considering how much I enjoyed the first season.
