I'm from Finland. We have only 5 million people here so it's hard for me to understand how 6.5 million is a low figure. However, even if it is, people should think about the huge fanbase Heroes has internationally. I think that without all this internet hype Heroes would have suffered a lot in the past as well as now (and in the future), so it's not fair nor wise to pay regards only to the figures Heroes hits on US television. Anyway, if Heroes really should get more US television viewers I think a good add campaing would do the trick. Heroes has huge potential for a flashy and beautiful add campaign. I don't think that there's too much at fault in the show itself, it's gotten better this Volume, but it doesn't matter how good the show is if the viewers won't bother to look at it. I mean, if they haven't seen it or have given up on it, they wouldn't know that Heroes is so good. Still I'd say be prepared for new low figures.

to me the shoe started to sink starting season three. in which peter lost his ability and also hiro. and the writers started focousing more on clair which i see is not that much important to see her develope into a some kinda hero which i think she is NOT.and on the other side we get into depth into sylars life which is ok but not tooo deep. soo the show left out the main charecters to me ; peter,hiro and parkman.
BUT seeing last nights episod;i would like to say YATTA cause i think is getting back on the right track and in no time peter will get his ability back .HOPEFULLY

The show just needs to stop changing everything. Example:One minute Sylar is good then bad, same with Nathan. Whether they got their abilities from genetics or injection. Whose Sylars parents which they finally answered. I mean I can go on with how they messed it up. Now it has been getting alot better. But they need to give Hiro and Peter Their old powers back and give someone else besides parkman the ability to see the future because that's ridiculous along with Ando having powers. Peter and Sylar need to fight more. They do need to introduce more new characters. Especially a main villain, I thought Arthur Petrelli was a great Villain! But they killed him off too fast. They need to kill off a main character. Nathan has died like 20 times same with Sylar, but they gotta make someone a for sure death. I hope they get higher rating soon :) Love heroes

The show is indeed getting better. But it's hard to bring attendance back once people gave up on it because it used to be a shadow if itself.
Better marketing it required I guess. Maybe writers can ask themselves what could bring old fans back then make sure it's advertized everywhere.
What I would try is making next volume more epic. Bring Godly Peter back, and make him have a titanesque encounter with Sylar. This would certainly appeal to season 1 fans.
Peter should visit papa Sylar and empathize with his deteriorated state then get all his abilities before he dies. Papa Sylar dies, Peter's empathic mimicry comes back, which allow him to get telekinesis, sedation and maybe intuitive aptitude again, and whatever else Mr. Gray had stolen.
Because frankly, even if Peter did get empathic mimicry back. Who other than Papa Sylar currently have any useful ability to mimic? The fire/freeze/lightning dudes are all gone. Claude is still MIA. And Sylar seems immune to any mind tricks (he resisted sedation, Doyle's ability, and persuasion) so even Matt's ability can't probably do much against him.

Show needs better marketing, soundtracks on the commercials. Bring back that "together" song. Put the commercials on NBC.com because half the viewers are watching it Online.

The show needs a proper revamp in season 4. It needs to be put a year in the future, with some of the main characters missing and some newer characters intertwined with the show. There is still a lot about the company and founders we clearly dont know, the writers can build upon this create newer characters based around the company. Need newer villians and a good plot line is another villian battles sylar, in which sylar has memory loss and we get the sylar back from the first season and not his pathetic parent issues. Need more of Angela, she is still mysterious even though we know loads about her (which in the case of heroes is rare) and we need elle, linderman and charles deavuex back. Need Matt to be a cop again and Nathen to be ambitious and greedy again. Volume IV in which i agree is better than the two volumes II and III but we need more, Season 4 shout open with a cliff hanger, audience confusion to begin to ask those questions again as we all did in the first season.
Mainly we need NEW CHARACTERS and BEETER STORYLINES for in my opinion actors with so much potentional. ALso we dont need a the 3rd ali larter character just bring back Tracy. It looks possible and also we need Hiro and Ando to have better storylines, not feudal japan, whatever the hell they did in volume 3, and now the baby storyline.... the writers need to go somewhere with this. Lastly perhaps we need a few new abilities to shake the storylines up, and use characters from the graphic novels.

Ravenhill, you are EXACTLY right. The show does need depth and cleverness in the story. The best thing about Volume 3 was the episode where you find out how Arthur died and the link between Arthur, Linderman and Angela before Season 1. Basically, it was feasible and linked in brilliantly with what had gone on before. Indeed, most of Volume 3 and 4 is clearly rushed and writen as they went along. What I also can't stand, in any show, is inconsistancy and no continuity with characters or storyline. Heroes needs to create a solid history and keep to it when referring back or going forward.
Also, too oftern have excellent characters/actors been misused, i.e. Adam Monroe/David Anders - why kill him off?Linderman/Malcolm McDowell - exactly the same. Don't kill characters off until at least we've learnt more about them. Personally, I'd have killed Sylar off by now and have a new main villain every series, which works perfectly in most popular shows. Basically, any new character Sylar comes across, he kills. Not really a good base for a continuing villain.

I don't understand the ratings system here very well but I agree changing to a different night would be beneficial, but does the show cost to much to produce for it to be on a lesser night? I think the comment about how to many characters have been immortalized is a main reason some people changed the channel. It definitely looks like the writers have a better feel for how this show should go so far with this volume. My main complaint with the show is they need to make up their minds with Claire. She really needs to become a hot ass-kicker for me to enjoy her.

Heroes has no continuity. They need to drop those hints to future events because those don't do anything for anyone anymore. It's confusing and frustrating. And the characters are like tissue paper...they get thrown away before they can be developed...like an artist who doesn't like what he drew so he tosses it in the bin. And Tracy getting frozen??? Stupid. She should be immune to her abilities. All those times she was using her abilities she didn't seem bothered by the cold. There are SO many things wrong with Heroes...I don't know if they can fix it.

If the low ratings are being presented as a crisis so we'll rally around and support the show, then it's working - but there are better ways to get our attention than manipulation!
For one thing - keep in mind that the young male demographic isn't the only audience enjoying this show. That doesn't mean 30-year-old women are clamoring for more romance - that means that the female characters need real storylines and not a choice between exile and martyrdom.
Then again - everyone is suffering right now, which is hard to watch - but we are watching it, faithfully, certain that the rebellion is going to grow in the next few weeks. However, I watch it faithfully ONLINE. Don't those viewers count? We sit through commercials too!

And all that aside, besides American Idol, you have Lost. Seriously, the only day I can think of putting Heroes besides it's current timeslot would be Friday. You're competition there would be Supernanny, Dollhouse, and America's Next Top Model. With some good press thrown in, Heroes can easily take all three of those shows.
There are alot things being said that i agree with alot. I think the direction the show is going in is very positive and needs to continue on the path. Lets face it nothing will ever beat season 1. But they are definitly making a much better effort then with villians. As far as i am concerned Villians never happened and what the show needs like pete said is publicity and word of month. Don't worry i think the viewers will slowly trickle back in as long as they continue this pace. Also having Bryan Fuller back makes a huge difference in the show. I am very excited for the rest of the season.
