Heroes Round Table: The Eclipse Part 1
Welcome to our 20th Heroes Round Table.
While fans of the show gather in the forums to discuss every character and story line, our staff comes together every week to analyze the latest developments from the latest episode.
Topics in this edition include: annoying story lines; Peter vs. Nathan; and HRG's fathering skills. Let's get to the Q&A...
Which couple has a brighter future: Elle/Sylar or Daphne/Parkman?
A. Hiro: Based on the latest round of spoilers, it doesn't look good for Daphne.
Milover: Until that eclipse clears up, the future looks dark for everyone. But I'll choose Elle and Sylar because I love the chemistry between Kristen Bell and Zachary Quinto.
Timex: Well, from the future I saw, it sure looked like Sylar was a single dad. So I'm going to have to give it to Daphne and Parkman. I love the ability to see the future. Takes out any room for drama.

More annoying story line: Hiro as a ten-year old or anything involving Mohinder?
Timex: Hiro as a ten-year old for sure. Why? Because Hiro is one of my favorite characters and he's being rendered useless right now. Mohinder has always been useless.
A. Hiro: There's no way to spin the Hiro story line. Masi Oka was nominated for an Emmy after season one. Look what the show has done to him since!
Milover: I hate how they've destroyed Hiro, but at least I laugh at his antics occasionally. But Mohinder has bone-headedly sided with the evil side for three consecutive seasons now.

Heroes to Welcome One Tree Hill Star and More!
So... Daphne can't walk on her own, Sylar hearts Elle and Mohinder has really creepy skin.
Those are among the developments we discovered on last night's episode of Heroes. But what's to come? Kristin from E! Online has a few answers:
- One Tree Hill actress Moira Kelly will come aboard in the role of Abby Collins, a Homeland Security agent, in at least one episode of the show's fourth volume.
- Dan Byrd (of Aliens in America) has a recurring role in that volume, title "Fugitives." His character will be named Luke, as he goes on the road with Sylar, seeking adventure and excitement. We don't portend a happy future for anyone that tries that.
- Claire won't die. In an upcoming episode, she becomes the focus of a major showdown between good and evil.
- We hope you enjoy the romance between Parkman and Daphne while you can. One of these characters won't last the season.
According to rumors, Daphne may soon be facing more trouble than a pair of useless legs.

Tim Kring is Sorry
Last week, we published an interview in which Heroes creator Tim Kring came across as rather bitter about the current state of television. He even manged to insult those that watch his show at its regularly-scheduled time.
To his credit, Kring has issued a statement apologizing for the remarks:
I need to strongly apologize for the slightly mangled quote of mine that is making it's way around the internet. It was made while trying to explain the rise in DVR and online audience for the show.

I was making the point that these platforms now offer a superior way to watch the show (without commercials, with extra content, commentary, at the audience's convenience, etc.) And went on to say how it's getting to the point where "watching the show on the air is relegated to the poor saps and dip****s who can't figure out how to program their DVR's". (Or something close to that)
It was a boneheaded attempt at being "cute" and making a point.
Heroes Caption Contest XLVIII
We'd like to thank every reader that submitted an entry to this week's Caption Contest.
The winner was easy to select, however, as "P.J." referenced one of our favorite celebrity gossip mavens, Kim Kardashian. See how by checking out the winning caption directly underneath the photo.
Scroll down to see the other funny options, as well. Thanks again for playing and please do so every week!

Hiro, do you really think Kim Kardashian's butt is the 9th Wonder of the world?
Daphne and Parkman: On a Mission
In this clip from Monday's episode of Heroes, Daphne and Parkman are given a mission.
Sounds like Angela has tasked this pair with tracking down a certain time-traveler. Yes, Daphne is about to cross paths with Hiro again...
A Quintet of Clips from The Eclipse, Part 1
This Monday on Heroes, an eclipse is coming. Did you hear?
Get an early look at the episode with the following few clips. In them...
- Arthur sends Sylar to track down Claire;
- Angela shares the plan with Claire;
- Peter and Nathan team up with The Haitian;
- Hiro and Ando are still in the comic shop.
Tim Kring Comes Clean
This is discouraging.
Tim Kring sat down for a panel discussion at this week's Creative Screenwriting's 2008 Screenwriting Expo. We're thankful that the Heroes creator answered every question from fans in an honest manner, but we're disappointed by the admission that the show has pretty much gotten away from Kring.
For example, comparing the series to Lost, Kring said "we didn't have an island to get off of," as he admitted there's no planned-out conclusion to the series. No wonder the episodes often seem to be pieced together at the last second, with no consistent flow to them.
What will happen to Parkman, Claire and Peter? Tim Kring doesn't know.
Here are other excerpts from Kring, none of which, sadly, gives us hope that he knows there Heroes is going:
On his original intention: "My original idea was more of an anthological vibe to it, where you regenerate the characters... I was primarily fascinated by the origin story. Once the original story is over, and the character has no more questions about what's happening or existential drama, then the questions become just about plot, and then it becomes harder for me personally to connect to.
"The problem is you run into a whole series of issues, where show and business run into each other. The network falls in love with characters, the audience falls in love with characters, the press falls in love with characters... You find yourself writing for characters you thought would be gone."
Important Heroes Questions, Answers
Heroes producers Joe Pokaski and Aron Coleite recently sat down for a series of questions.
Here's what was on the minds of a few fans, along with the producers' response to their inquiries...
Is Sylar’s power the only one to come with side effects like the Hunger?
Most all of these powers have side effects, although the hunger may be the most overt. Peter almost overloaded when he tried to get a grip on his powers while training with Claude. Jessica emerged as a side-effect of Niki’s super-strength and emotional weakness. Isaac believed he needed Heroin to see the future.
Will we ever find out if Adam has any descendents out there?
Yes. But not this season.
Why is Arthur so scared of anyone that can dream about him or see into the future? Is this the key to stopping him?
Exactly. It’s the only real wild card. The bet laid plans of mice an men, no matter how well conceived, are vulnerable to the dreams and visions of any mouse or man who can see the future.
Sounds like there may be a way to stop Arthur after all.
