The next season starts when the writers strike ends. This "finale" wasn't intended to be a finale until it was apparent the Writers' Guild was going to walk. Then they hastily reshot the ending of Powerless to make it stand as a finale.

The Start of Season 3

another season?
I don't think any episodes beyond what we've seen have been formally written, although they do have the basics sketched out. As for what they did shoot and televise, Tim Kring said they had to shoot a new ending for Powerless to make it seem more like a season finale because of the writers' strike. I hope they put the original ending on the DVD. I'm curious to see what their plans were for a cliffhanger over the Christmas hiatus.

Wonder what Elles Fathers Power is?
Bob's power is some sort of alchemy. He can turn metals into gold.
As for Nathan and Peter's dad, I'm more interested in what their mother can do.

Peters Power is ridiculous.......
One thing we have to remember is that as viewers, we inherently know more than the characters in any given show. We know what other characters are up to, and in some cases we know more about the character in question than the character himself. Peter Petrelli is a perfect example of this.
In Season 1, Peter was a young, insecure man living in the shadow of a powerful brother. Then all of a sudden he finds out he can fly. Then a host of other amazing things start happening to him. He got confused, he felt alone (does anyone else remember how desperate he was when pleading with Claude [the invisible man] to help him?).
In Season 2, Peter started with a clean memory, thanks to the Haitian. He had no idea who he was, nevermind what he could do. Of course he is going to struggle with control (I loved the Spiderman-esque moment when he was still in Ireland trying to figure out how he got the lightning to come out of his hands. Reminded me of Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker standing on a roof trying to figure out howto make his webs work).
Plus, we have to assume Peter doesn't even know what all he can do. When Peter was exposed to most of the heroes powers at Kirby Plaza at the end of Season 1, he was encountering many of those people for the first time. He would have no reason to know they are special like him, and thus no reason to think he just acquired a new ability.
I think Milo is doing a great job playing the character, and I think one of the strengths of the show is that you have a guy who is basically a superman (can fly and is all but invincible), but is struggling with how to control and utilize this awesome power and is trying to cope with the responsibility that comes with his power. But we also get to watch this character growth with the knowledge that he will be successful, if what we saw in the Season 1 episode Five Years Gone is any indication.

another season?
According to The Associated Press, talks are resuming today (Tues. Dec. 4). Here's the lede on their story tha moved just before 11 a.m. EST:
"In statements circulated by producers and striking writers in the United States, a relatively scant $20 million appeared to separate contract proposals as negotiations resumed Tuesday to end dispute entering its fifth week."
However, there is still a big gulf between the two sides over getting paid for stuf that appears on the Internet. etc. If they can get this resolved in the next couple of days, there is hope for the full 22-episode arc for volumes two and three. At least, I hope there is. Not sure if anybody noticed, but the finale was actually written, not just executive produced, by Jeph Loeb. I also read that one of the other writers is doing a Superman/Batman story arc for DC Comics. Hopefully this will keep them sharp and back in the groove to bring the good comic-book feel back to this awesome series.

Powerless
I love how passionate the fans of this show are. It adds to the show's allure. Here are some random thoughts on the finale (having slept on it and reading some of the other posts).
1. Peter's power. We don't know for certain that his blood doesn't have the healing powers of Adam's and Claire's. He absorbed their other powers, so why wouldn't he also possess the the power to heal people with his blood? Although I think the writers/producers opened a can of worms with this aspect of the power. Kind of silly to think that any character killed could potentially be revived. That said, and hating to be practical about this, I'm thinking whether or not they bring Nathan back will have to do with Adrian Pasdar and whether or not he wants to remain on the show. Further to this, I don't believe a dose of the blood makes the recipient immortal. It's just a cure, not an infusion of abilities.
2. Sylar. What is the Company's plan for him? Was he just a guinea pig for them to test the virus on? Or do they have a have greater plans for him? I also think we should put to rest any talk about him teaming up with anybody, He has proven time and again he has no interest in working with another person who has abilities. His interest is killing that person and taking their abilities. If he does dig up Adam, which I doubt, it will be to kill him, not work with him. I'm still curious if Sylar has regained all of his abilities, or if he has to start all over again.
3. HRG. What, exactly, made him change his tack? Obviously, there is some sort of inherent danger in the heroes going public with their abilities. The threat of that got HRG to realign himself with the company. He was genuinely concerned when Bob told him Claire was going public. Why? What is the real threat? Is there somebody out there, outside The Company, who would like to hunt down these people with powers? Was The formation of The Company maybe a front so these 12 could ally themselves for protection? Is the one Angela Petrelli was talking to on the phone this threat? Methinks this threat to the heroes will be the gist of Chapter 3. Oh, and I still believe HRG is the one who shot Nathan. It's within that motive to ensure the Heroes remain safely anonymous. He is also a link to Claire that maybe needs to be eliminated to ensure her continued anonymity and safety. It will be interesting to see her reaction to Nathan being shot. Her Dad gets shot, then inexplicably comes back to life only to have her biological father shot, possibly by her Dad? Like sands through the hour glass . . . .
This writers' strike can't end soon enough

Powerless
Finale wasn't that bad, but then I'm a sucker for any episode that has Hiro calling out, "Flying Man!" Cracks me up every time.
Loved the stuff in the basement of Primatech. That's the Heroes I know and love. As for Nathan's killer? I'm going to guess Bennett. He seems to be good at ruthlessly offing people, and that would certainly fit with him making some sort of deal with Bob. One thought: Will Nathan be revived with a shot of Peter's blood? Or has Adrian Pasdar had enough and is ready to pack it in? But isn't this a little too much like who shot J.R. (or Mr. Burns)?
Good on Hiro for how he contained Adam. Very much in his character to resolve that with as little violence as possible. Tactical and effective. I liked it.
If and when this show returns, they better do something interesting with Monica. Her character is here at the expense of Niki. It would have been nice to see how the writers were going to tie her in to the main story lines. I guess we'll just have to wait for that one to play out.
I liked the cliffhanger ending with Sylar, but do you think he has regained all of his previous powers, or will he have to start all over again? I'm also quite curious about the Company's role for Sylar. They obviously have something in mind, or they wouldn't have secluded him in South America and injected him with the virus.
Last question: Who was Angela Petrelli on the phone with? Bob? Or is there still a big boss we haven't met yet, much like the way they introduced Bob this season? Damn this writer's strike!

Heroes that Bite the Bullet
I've said in another thread I believe two to die will be Maya and Adam. It's unlikely because it seems everything I try to predict with this show is way off, but I'll give it another stab anyway. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.
Final: Maya. Once Sylar gets his powers back, she's effed. He won't hesitate to remove her skull cap and do whatever it is he does with her brain to get the power of the fatal black tears.
Uncertain: Adam. I think Hiro's going to lop his head off in a duel in the Primatech Paper basement.
Reversed: Hiro. before dying, Adam will inflict a mortal wound in Hiro, but Peter will grab a syringe that just happens to be lying nearby to draw some of his own blood, inject it in Hiro and Yattay! Hiro's back much to Ando's delight. (Remember Peter has Adam and Claire's abilities).
Runner up for any of them: Niki. She is a good candidate to die, but I agree with a previous poster that it would be lame to have her killed off after much of this season has been dedicated to finding a cure for the virus she infected her self with. (By the way, wouldn't she be highly contagious? Officials approaching people suspected of being infected wore HazMat suits in the future.) But if they did kill her off, it would be interesting to see the effect on Micah. It would almost be like a Batman thing (I said almost: I know Bruce Wayne's parents were gunned down in front of him by a thug). Micah could vow to avenge his parents' death and either go after the company, or become the first Hero in the show to actually don a costume and adopt a secret identity, just like his comic books, and fight crime! But seriously, he would be one messed up little kid. Combine that emotional trauma with a special ability and there are plenty of possibilities for his character.

Just some things I was think about.
Good point kilbasa. It should be able to. No reason to believe Peter would absorb just the regeneration ability without the curing properties of the blood.

Just some things I was think about.
Where to start?
The questions about the original 12 are good ones, but we may never get the answers because they copped out with a blanket statement from Matt Parkman that the rest are already dead and therefore inconsequential. Mr. Petrelli is the one standing beside Mrs. Petrelli, with his head turned sideways.
Ths symbol, I believe, is a half-helix (think of that twisted ladder shape of DNA). It is also the symbol of Takezo Kensei and we are told it is interpreted as Godsend. It is prominent throughout the show, from the Haitian's neckalce to the logo of Linerman's company and Mr. Petrelli's law firm. It also appears on the cover of Chandra Mohinder's book, over the door of the antique shop in Montreal. It's everywhere.
I'm guessing Kaito wasn;t expecting Adam to be his killer because last he saw of Adam was 30 years when he locked him up and threw away the key.
The Shanti virus is actually named after Mohinder's little sister, who was killed by it. Mohinder's blood is the antidote or cure. Strain 138, I think, is a mutated version of the Shanti virus to which Mohinder's blood is no longer effective (but Adam's and Claire's is). The Haitian was infected with the Shanti virus, but how he was infected I have no idea. It was in Niki that Mohinder realized there is a mutated strain of the virus and that he was no longer the cure.
