  1. another season?

That will likely happen in next week's episode, NightVision. Just before the writers went on strike, they shot a new ending for next week's episode, and I theorize it was about stopping the virus. I believe the original intent was to drag out the virus threat over the course of a full season, but the writers strike has prevented that, forcing this truncated "season" upon us.

  2. Truth and Consequences

I didn't think the episode was that bad. Not as good as the last few, but all right. Although if it wasn't for Hiro, Peter and Adam, this episode would have been a stinker.

Here's my take on what's coming up, for what it's worth. The two heroes killed? I'm going with Maya and Adam. If the "villain that rises" is indeed Sylar, Maya is toast. Although, the villain that rises could also very well be Parkman, given how he is starting to learn how to better manipulate his powers. But I digress. I'm about 98 per cent certain the villain will be Sylar, and his "rebirth" will set up for Volume 3. However, I think if Sylar gets cured, he won't go back to what he was. I think he'll have to start all over again, and the first power he will acquire will be Maya's.

I can see Hiro and Peter starting to fight, but eventually Peter is going to see the real Adam and his M.O. for finding the virus. The reason Peter still trusts Adam is exactly as he told Victoria Pratt -- Adam helped him escape prison and saved his brother's life. However, Hiro will help convince Peter of Adam's evil intentions, even if he does it while holding a sword to his throat. They just have to keep Adam alive long enough to find out exactly where in the Primatech building the virus is being kept. Then the climatic fight of the season will begin -- Hiro and Peter (and probably Parkman if I saw the trailer right) vs. Adam. Thank's to Adam's admission at Pratt's house, Peter knows the vulnerability to cellurlar regeneration, and that is some form of decapitation. The fight will end with Hiro using Kensei's own sword to lop off his head. How poetic.

Then again, maybe I've put waaaaay too much thought into this and should really get a life.

I think this writer's strike has caused them to cut some corners. I think we are supposed to have forgot that it was Claire's car Maya, Alejandro and Sylar were driving around in. I've been waiting for Sylar to check the glove box and see some of Claire's ID and then go after her. She's his one big failed conquest from Season 1, and incidentally has the power to cure him. It could still happen as a Season 2 cliffhanger, but who knows.

To sum up, Season 2 will end with the world saved from the virus, but a new evil will be unleashed in the form of Sylar. Hopefully while walking the picket lines the writers are thinking up some cool new ideas for the next volume, something that moves a tad bit quicker than this season with characters and storylines that actually capture our interest.

  3. Peters Power is ridiculous.......

The reason Peter didn't fly away when the haitian was chasing him is because the Haitian has the ability to negate Peter's abilities. Also, Peter did display some of the super strength on that Irish guy who was planning the double-cross the rest of the gang after the bank car heist. I've mentioned before that just being in Kirby Plaza opened Peter to a whole range of abilities, but I do wonder whether he can now do everything Sylar can do (although did Peter not use telekinesis during that armoured car heist? I can't recall if he had that power before encountering Sylar or not).

As for using his abilities, I think Peter learned near the end of last season how to use what was at his disposal. The only one he couldn't control was Ted's power, but once he exploded, he looked like he was in pretty good control of what he could do (regenerating after the explosion, flying to save Nathan, going invisible to escape the emergency room). Keep in mind that at the beginning of this season, his mind had been wiped. He didn't know he had any kind of abilities, and really learned by accident piece by piece. It could be that Peter doesn't have to think about the person he got the ability from, as he theorized in season one, but instead he has to think, or react, to the situation facing him. For example, he's cuffed to a chair, wants out and thus is able to manifest DL's power. He feels threatened and instinctively calls on Elle's power. He wants to beat a double-crossing Irish gangster and out comes Niki's power.

We haven't seen Peter in action yet since his memories were restored, so it's quite possible he has the control back. I'm sure we'll have a better idea of this after Monday's episode.

  4. What powers does Sylar have?

It's obvious Sylar does something with the brains of his victims as he leaves an empty skull behind. The best evidence of this is Isaac's painting of his own death. And I doubtful that Sylar did get Eden's power. I think those at the Company were aware of what Sylar had to do to acquire powers, which is why Eden shot herself in the head when he caught her. Go back and watch that episode and check out the extreme disappointment on Sylar's face when she pulls the trigger.

  5. The Original 12

I'm wondering if the writers' strike has anything to do with the remaining people in the picture being declared dead. It's a little peculiar that we found that out through an offhand comment from Matt, and not from following his investigation into who these people are. It just seems like a massive cop out to have them all but that Ms. Pratt declared deceased.

  6. Writers Strike

A nice idea, but a logistic improbability. Even if we could get the disparate fans to reach a consensus on how the series should progress, I understand a lot of the actors are respecting the picket lines and not working in solidarity with the writers. I just want the guild and the damn studios to get back to the freakin' table and resolve their differences.

  7. Angela Petrelli's powers

I admit it's kind of frustrating the way they keep us guessing at the powers of the original 12, but at the same time I like it. It's a safe bet that the 12 in the photo all had a power. The power of persuasion for Mrs. Petrelli is a good guess, with ample evidence from the show. There was her chat with Heidi in Four Months Ago. There was also her getting the Haitian to retrieve Claire for her. I'm trying to remember back to last night's episode. Did Parkman have her restrained in that chair? If not physically, he did a good job of mentally keeping her in check, perhaps to stop her from touching him and using her powers on him? Maybe she used her powers to convince her husband to commit suicide? But I fear we may never know for sure what she can do, just as we never definitively found out what Charles DeVeaux could do, or Kaito Nakamura. There are theories, but it was never explicitly stated in the show.

  8. Cautionary Tales

I've been thinking about this episode all night. It was awesome. Here's my two cents. Elle and Claire aren't related. This isn't a daytime soap; not everyone has to be a blood relation. Likewise, I don't think Adam's powers extend beyond his cellular regeneration. Like I've mentioned earlier in another post, this show will get really silly really fast if they start randomly dishing out extra powers to satisfy plot points. I was shocked that Mohinder actually shot Bennett. I didn't think it would happen. But I'm guessing he did so to protect his research towards a cure for the Shanti virus. Bob has the plan (and Clarie's plasma) to do so. In order to preserve that, Mohinder had to take Bennett down. As for who brought Bennett back, I have no idea. But that dingy little hospital room he was in looked a helluva lot like the room Sylar was in when we found out he was still alive. If this is so, who is the mastermind behind this jungle facility? The Company? Adam? Someone we haven't met yet? And beyond that, who else could they have revived (this will no doubt feed theories that Linderman is still alive somewhere). One of the things I'm loving about these past few episodes is that more of the people with powers are acting in more of a grey area as opposed to I'm good and you're bad type of scenario. Although Adam is still an enigma to me. He has good motivation to bump off the original 12 -- and that was reaffirmed for us by Kaito Nakamura when we saw the rehash of his little chat with Angela on the roof of the DeVeaux building. They had imprisoned him for 30 years. Adam didn't agree with their way of doing business (remember, these are the people who were willing to sacrifice New York City, including some of their own children). I want to think Adam wants to do the right thing, but things will get pretty messy when he encounters Hiro, especially if they realize they hate each other but are fighting the same fight. It will also put Peter in quite the predicament, which could be what leads to Hiro holding the sword to his throat (as we saw in the preview for next week). All I know is Monday nights are going suck after Dec. 3 This writers' strike has to end yesterday.

  9. Peter's Powers.

I believe he just has to be near the person and he absorbs their powers, just like a sponge. We don't precisely know what his mother's power is, so we don;t know if he has used it or not.

  10. Cautionary Tales

To be honest, I didn't even miss Peter in this episode. And I agree it was quite well done. watching Matt get all power hungry was awesome, especially when he was giving the old mental bitch slap to Angela Petrelli. But WTF was with him saying everybody in the picture is accounted for except that woman? What about the group on the left of the picture? There are a few there we haven't heard about.

The Hiro/Kaito storyline was really well done, and Hiro's face when he saw it was Kensei as his father's killer was classic. Full marks to masi Oka for this episode. he was great. Made one completely forget all those wasted weeks in fuedal Japan.

Finally, they made the Bennett's storyline interesting again, and that ending was freakin's awesome. My question is, if Bennet is brought back to life (presumably with Claire's blood) and is being held at The Company, whos ashes were in the urn we see Claire dumping in the preview for next week's episode? Speaking of the preview, it was pretty cool seeing Hiro hold the sword to Peter's neck. it will be interesting to see what the hell that is all about. That and Sylar back in Mohinder's apartment.

The best part about this episode? No Maya and Alejandro. Funny how they are completely absent when this show is at its best.
