It is obviously not Future Peter that shot Nathan.  Angela was on the phone with somebody, so it could not be her son in the future.  It's not plausible, even for this show.  I'd guess it's HRG, but he couldn't have gotten to Odessa that fast.  Most likely it's a new character, and Nathan will probably be back next season.  I don't think that blood keeps working, otherwise they would've made it a point for Nathan's hand to heal immediately when he punched the mirror.  It was a very small amount of blood he was given, just enough for it to circulate through his blood stream.  It's not like he got some major blood transfusion.  Hell, all they had to do was inject a person for it to work.  A small vile of blood would not stay in their blood stream forever.  That would just be a retarded move, and the writers aren't that dumb.

I'm going to guess it's some mysterious new person that killed Nathan, and Clair will end up healing him, or Peter will go back in time.  One or the other, but Nathan is not dead.  You really do have to hand it to the writers for being able to take what should have been a 23 episode season and making it only 11.  It sure wasn't as good as Volume One, but that would be impossible to do in a shortened season.  They did what they could and when it worked, it worked, but when it didn't, it didn't.  Unfortunately, it didn't work (Monica/Maya/Micah/Niki) more than it did work.

I still think that it should be a future version of Nathan that kills himself.  It could work on so many levels.....

Future Nathan would have some key knowledge about future events and he could drop hints, build suspense and be engaged in a mysterious, confusing agenda...

Adrian Pasdar gets to unload, portraying a grimmer, more focused and determined version of his character...

We get to see that future Nathan has developed his flying ability into something even more extraordinary...

Best of all, we get to keep a solid actor and character on the show without using any magic blood..

    Anyhow, just my $0.02...

Lol.... You say future Nathan kills himself?

So let me get this straight - Future Nathan goes back in time and kills himself.

First of all, how does a man who can only fly, suddenly get the power to go back in time. (I guess unless Peter or Hiro teleported him.

Second of all, if he does indeed go back in time and kill himself, then future Nathan wouldn't exist LOL

um, i dont know if u guys read much comics, but usually storylines with someone coming back from the future suck..i mean future Hiro is ok cos he didnt stay in the present 4 too long..all he did was give a message to Peter..he didnt actually kill sylar HIMSELF..he had people in the present do it themselves..so if Future Nathan went and did something huge like killing HIMSELF,then the story would go down the drain..seriously..think about it

First, of course it is Hiro or Peter that brings him back - come on.

Second, Heores plainly follows time-travel rules that allow for exactly this kind of thing - think about it.  Future Hiro came back to tell Peter to STC from a future that he wound up eradicating.  If we stuck to your logic, then Future Hiro could have never come back in the first place, as he would not have existed (at least in his grim, ass-kicking persona).

It is only an apparent paradox if you assume that there is only one possible timeline (see 12 Monkeys).  In most time-travel stories, the time-traveller is relatively insulated from the consequences of his meddling.  For example, in Back to the Future, Marty McFly's personality did not radically change as a consequence of his meddling (unlike his siblings).  Terminator 2 allowed for a similar apparent paradox (although T3 sheepishly backed off of this concept to squeeze out another sequel).

And to follow up to alushi's comment...

If it were up to me, I would not have had any character with the ability to travel in time.  However, its a big part of the show - hell, Hiro was mucking around with Monroe in feudal Japan for half of season two.  So, as long as it is there, I say use it.  I think the idea of Future Nathan having to kill his old self off raises some interesting questions - why would he do such a thing?  What was the horrble consequence of Nathan's revelation that required such drastic action?

The only other options are:  1)  Pasdar is off the show - weak and 2) magic blood - lame.

Nikki will die. Even if you were to give her magic blood, how would you find her?! She was entertaining early on in volume 1 but now she is just a really shit character.

Nathan will be resurrected. He's too popular and there is too much potential of him returning with Peter's blood or time travelling ability.

Hiro needs to die. Time travelling causes too many holes. Peter could lose that power when Hiro dies.

First off their Nathan cant time travel....so the theory that he shot himself is not logically possible.  Second..Angella was on teh phone with somebody of this time..so the killer..or person that sent shooter ...has to be of present time.  Third.  I think the killer is not SOMEBODY that we know.

I don't think the shooter is someone we don't know either.  A company person who knew of Nathan's plan to out the company due to the tape.

However, if Future Nathan (most likely with the help of Hiro or Peter) to time travel to stop himself.  It would because of what happens when the world finds out there are people with abilities and it becomes what he feared from the beginning.  Locking them up, experients, etc.  Nathan tells people that if people knew what they could do they would lock them up.  That would be interesting.  I also don't believe the shooter killed Nathan.  He sent a message.  I think Nathan will return.  Well, I certainly want him to return.

The writers had stated that they plan on coming up with unique or other ways to heal people without the use of magic blood.  I'm all for that.  And if Nathan is actually taken care of in a hospital that is all fine with me as well.  I would like to see Claire visit him though.

I really don't want the show to lose Adrian Pasdar, he is a great actor and I love what he's done with Nathan.  (yeah, I'm a Nathan fan, I'll admit now.).  I've enjoyed seeing his character grow and change throughout both seasons.
