A different kind of sickness theory

First of all, if you haven't seen Kindred yet don't read this - the theory uses information from Kindred.

Anyways, in Kindred, the princess (from the past) says that it seems like Takeizo Kensei has two sides to him - a brutal side and a caring side. Is it just me, or did you all have a deja vu? Sounds a lot like the Niki/Jessica split personality, does it not?

Maybe, this is a kind of sickness that can afflict some heroes. If it's passed down through the generations, then it's even possible that Niki is a decendent of Takeizo Kensei. This would actually kind of make sense, since Takeizo has a flag with the Godsend symbol on it, and Niki has the symbol on her back - maybe because she was his decendant!

Furthermore, maybe there are other 'sicknesses' that can afflict the heroes? I, for one, will be on the lookout for them!

The whole brutish and kind side thing came because Hiro was impersonating Kensei.  He wore his armour and took their swords using his powers in front of her(that beautiful Japanese woman of legend).  He told her sweet nothings etc after that (he was a much better husband or whatever than the real deal).  Then because he's like the nicest person ever he gives the credit to the "real" Kensei. (the brutish one)

Yeah, Loki's right about why the princess said Kensei seemed to have two sides (because of Hiros' impersenation) - but blop, you may be right about Nikki/Jessica being descendents of Kensei. He might be the great grandaddy of most or all of them in some way. Who knows?

Woah I hit the jackpot (or very nearly so). I think this episode pretty much confirms my theory that the 'split-personality' syndrome thingy is actually a 'sickness' that the heroes can get.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that there are variations of this sickness. Most might not even be a sickness, but just a feeling, like Peter's and Monica's (the new hero) sense of being something greater, something more important. And what are these sicknesses/feelings? They are a part in the developement of a power.

Think about it. Peter had these feelings, and then found out about his power. Same with Monica. Nicki had the split personality and then when she finally conquered it she had control over superstrength.

This leads me to believe that Nathan is develeping a second power, in addition to flying. Awesome? I think so!

blop - maybe Peters ability of empathically absorbing powers was already inherent in Nathan as well.....cadalyst has a good theory in the thread for this new episode that Nathan and Peter can do the same things (Nathan subsequently absorbed them from Peter, but it could have been vis versa) but Nathans didn't manifest like Peters because he was trying to be everything but emotional - which was the very reason Peter was able to acquire them. I'm with you on the split personality thing afflicting the heroes. Could it be the virus.....? Good call

Nathan could (just as Peter experienced in season 1) not realize that he has certain powers until an extrenuating circumstance forces it to manifest (like when Claude forced Peter to use telekenesis or regenerate after being thrown off the building) He may have a hunch though.....he looked at his bloody hand after punching his melted reflection, almost waiting to see if it would regenerate. He is Claires biological dad afterall......

I meant to say 'good call on the sickness theory' blop - even though its not confirmed yet, it does have a lot of merit!

Hell yes, Kilbasa... I was talking about that with Cadalyst a couple weeks ago and it even more obvious that Nathan and Peter are similair in more ways than we might think...
