SYLAR is Ridiculous
-
Sylar is a serial killer. He's a sociopath (egocentric, unable to truly empathize with anyone else to a severe degree, believes his morality/purpose comes before all). The fact that he's a watchmaker also works well with his personality; while some watchmakers can look at their work and think about the intricacies and marvels of creation, the human body, etc... Sylar sees other people as machine parts to himself. How anyone can identify with him is beyond me. The writers and Zachary have done a fine job of portraying what it would be like if a serial killer personality type gained a dangerous power. He's got that quirky justification and belief about what he does; he thinks the most horrible things are excusable, because they further his purpose. Aside from the fact that he's dangerous even without his powers (as we've seen in season two), he's dangerous because, once he acquires a power, he totally understands how it works and how to apply it to its fullest potential. He rarely has problems with that, and when he does, he fixes it rapidly (i.e. the "hearing" power). Peter acquires his powers much more gently (without harming the originator); his drawback is that it's much more difficult for him to learn how to use the power, and what it's capable of. Hopefully, in the end, Peter will take down Sylar (he's probably the only one who can, unless someone catches Sylar off guard again). As to the idea of "Sylar gets everyone's powers and is happy, and regrets what he did"... bushwah. That type is never happy. If he managed to acquire every power, and thus was the only living person with power... his attention would then turn to normals, and he would expect worship. When he didn't get it... things would get *really* nasty.Posted 2/8/2008 10:36:04 PM #

If I had to relate Sylar to somebody from the Marvel Universe it would definately have to be "Carnage". Same characteristic where a serial killer acquires a super power and goes off on a killing spree but the only difference is Sylar kills to acquire a power while Carnage killed for fun. Since Carnage was one of Spiderman's ultimate villains he could not defeat Carnage alone and needed the help of another Villain turned friend for assistence "Venom". My thoughts are in Season 3 we will see some new villains team up with the heroes and take on this maniac or something in the lines of that matter, but whatever the story may be...LETS SEE SYLAR DIE!

What if sylar is building up to something bigger...Maybe he is a monster trapped inside grey building his power base to be what he is supposed to be like maybe that big monster that keeps poping up in the show. Shandra never found a power in sylar. I dont think that i can see how things work is natural otherwise it would have come up as his genetic marker...Maybe the company did this to him humanitys last hope in a world of people who can eventualy become the supreme rulers or the top of the food chain. many things support my theary...Personally i hate sylar but only cause he has no depth he's hollow. But he has potential.Posted 3/10/2008 4:10:25 PM #

i don't actually want him to die, i would love for him to meet a girl who is more powerfull than him and hes more powers, so he tries to kill her to get her powers thoughout the series, but she always gets away, so it's not always the same routine for him, kill it steal it, (His moto not mine!) and when he finally gets a chance to kill her, he can't because they fall inlove...........aaaaaaawwwwwww
even phycopathic killers fall inlove you know!

Dude, after last time i entered a comment i have realised how much i like Sylar and how i feel sorry for him, he is a nice guy and all he wanted to do was get his mothers approval, but when he kills her he is sent off his handle he cant take it anymore because he killed the only thing that matters to him.I live in Australia ok, so that means that the episodes only come on T.V after the americans see them, but i think that (even though i havnt seen the first episode of the third season) he will turn into a semi good guy for a small anount of time, well he is the new hottie of the show! :D

Did anybody else think that Sylar (and Peter) both fought like Fags against the villains that broke into Sylar's house. ESPACIALLY with the abilities that they have.

I defo think that peter from the future in season 3 doesnt have the ability to heal. after we have seen future peter die at the hands of claire with a few bullets to the chest, followed by present peter losing his powers to his dad, i think it safe to assume that if the possible future is played out peter is destined to regain some of his powers, except the ability to heal. going on this theory, future peter had some agenda with present day peter in the conversation before future peter got blasted. maybe the key to peter regaining his powers lies with sylar's ability, as future peter suggests this could change everything. i'm not saying sylar's ability would help present peter to amass abilitys but maybe help in beating his father. i also think that present day peter's irish girlfriend will play a part in the re-development of peter's powers, in what capacity i'm not sure. another point is also the relationship between hiro and peter. whenever peter is on a mission of sorts be always comes into contact with hiro along the way. season one, hiro stabs sylar after peter kicks his ass. season two, hiro tries to stop peter being a gormless prat with adam and the virus. and in season three, hiro is in the frame trying to find the weaknesses of peter's dad and three chums in the picture. interesting...also just a word about the bitching of some cast members characters, i agree with some, an others complaints, but i'm enjoying the show...when that stops, i'll stop watching. it will always have players that people dont like, all shows do, if someone you dont like is on th show, concentrate on the one you do like:) simple really.

Well sylar i don't think would take ALL powers, considering some people hae the same ones. Healing, flying, ect. So maybe he would make alliances with the people who someone else has the same power, and killing the other person with that power. I don't know, but i think Sylars a good villian, but they need to give him a bit of a twist.
