The full proof and story of Kensei-as-killer theory

    Alright, so a lot of people have been saying that the person who is killing off the new heroes is Takeizo Kensei, me among them. I wanted to summarize in this post everything that proves this and stuff.

    This also includes what I think will be the major story arc of Season 2.

    So, I'll start from the beggining of the timeline (note that "The Line" was the name of the most recent episode, which I believe is talking about the timeline, and how all the pieces that we were given in this episode from the past, present, AND future go together).

    Kensei is a drunk. Quite famous and yet a drunk and not the best of all people. He is the head of his own 'House', for which his symbol (as we see when he carries his flag and on his sword) is the "Godsend" symbol.

    Hiro enteres the past, and meets Kensei. Because he altered the timeline by coming back (or at least he thinks he did, and I think he was right), he stayed to fix it. He got Kensei back in order so the princess would love him. Meanwhile, Hiro himself falls in love with the princess. They go and do all the stuff, Kensei discovers his powers, and Hiro tells him about his own, and eventually it comes time to rescue the princesse's father.

    They rescue the father, blah blah blah, and then Hiro teleports the princess out of danger in the midst of battle, to her suprise. She realizes that at the beggining it had been Hiro in Kensei's armor and that she loves Hiro, and they kiss. Kensei sees, and is wounded deeper than any mortal's cut could. He becomes twisted and evil.

    Kensei and Hiro battle it out, as depicted by the painting, and Hiro escapes. Kensei vows to have revenge. Zoom up to around present time. Kensei is likely in hiding or something in his house in montreal (remember it had the "Godsend" symbol above it, which was Kensei's symbol), when the Boogeyman finds him and comes to him with a deal. Not sure exactly what this consist of, but the jist of it is that Kensei gets his revenge and the Boogeyman gets his revenge or just does all the evil he wants (not sure which - depends if there is a motive or not).

    The boogeyman tells Kensei of Hiro's dad's location (since the Boogeyman had been in that group). The picture is marked by Kensei with his symbol and is sent to him. Hiro's dad knows what this means because he knows about Kensei and knows he can do nothing to stop it except wait and try to put up at least a bit of fight maybe.

    Kensei kills Kaito Nakamura.

    The Boogeyman, in the meantime, for whatever reason wants Angela dead or hurt badly. He sends her the same sign, and the Boogeyman uses his powers to make her see her worst fear - herself, because of all the bad things she's done - and she attacks herself in the nightmare.

    I'm going to stop there and just list a bunch of proofs of why the killer is Kensei (and probably Adam Munroe), and then I'll give some proofs as to why Kensei might be Peter's dad.

    WHY IS THE KILLER KENSEI?

    - The killer sent pictures to the older heroes with the "Godsend" symbol on it, which is Kensei's symbol.

    - This is why he would want to kill Kaito Nakamura - to get revenge on Hiro (This doesn't mean that he doesn't want to kill Hiro still, it was just one step in his revenge).

    - The killer jumped off the roof with Kaito and survived, indicating regeneration

    - It isn't so farfetched to think that regeneration means you can't die of old age (or even age at all). If he can heal all the organs and cells and stuff in his body, there's no reason to think he CAN die of old age. And we know that his cells and stuff do heal (or just regenerate, which still works) because otherwise how can a hole close up or a toe grow back?

    - It explains why the Hiro/Kensei plot was given so much importance

    ...I think there were some more proofs that I thought of before, but I can't think of now.

    WHY IS KENSEI PETER'S DAD?

    - Angela said that Peter's dad was depressed (like Kensei), and tried to kill himself multiple times (since Kensei knows he can't die he was doing things that involved 'killing himself'). When Kensei revealed himself as who he really was and became evil, Angela claimed he had succesfully comitted suicide and that he was dead.

    - This explains why Angela was one of the victims just like Kaito.

    - This would make Kensei Claire's grandad which would make sense since Claire also has regeneration.

    - This is how Kensei knew Peter and left a message for him in his house.

    - Although I'm not convinced, this COULD be why the Haitin erased Peter's memory: because Kensei met with Peter, and Bennet and the Haitin didn't want Peter to get involved with Kensei's evil plots.

    Anyways, that's it folks!

    Why doesn't Nathan and Peter seem surprised they have powers then? Wouldn't they have known they were "special" when their dad didn't apparently age?

    That was  a double negative so it seems unclear. The question is why are Nathan and Peter surprised that they have powers?

    If Kensei were really the mysterious hero-killer then that would certainly explain his disappearance after killing Kaito. However, that argument still has a few holes in it. For one, the Kensei in 1671 was more or less the height and build of Kaito, while the hoodie was shorter and of slighter build than Kensei.

    There are also a few problems with the theory that Kensei is really Peter's father. In the picture of the original 12 Company members, "Dallas" Petrelli is of different build then Kensei. Either Kensei's ability lets him stay alive, though aged (unlikely since the studio would have to either find a new actor for Kensei or apply massive makeup each session), or he's like Wolverine and doesn't age, in which case he shouldn't be "Dallas" in the picture. Furthermore, if the graphic novels are in any way canonical, they almost prove that Kensei wasn't Peter's father, since he would have died by a gunshot wound had Linderman not healed him.

    Of course, all this is assuming that the timeline of Kensei turning evil was originally supposed to happen. If so, that begs the question, how was the Kensei legend created? What were the seeds of truth that led to all the myths? And if not, then where can we start finding hints in "present-day setting" of history changing? And what happens to the Kensei legend?

    Finally, if Hiro really did change history, then this could suggest quite a paradox. Suppose the present world before Hiro changed the past be called World A, and the alleged changed-history world be called World B. World A's Hiro was determined to make Kensei a legend, and in doing so inadvertently changed history, because he had read (and probably memorized) Kensei's legend. But if history changes and Kensei becomes evil, which wasn't supposed to happen, then in World B, Hiro would never have known that Kensei was a hero and presumably would not tried half as hard to stay with Kensei originally. Thus there would be a constant cycle between Worlds A and B. If the scriptwriters are aware of this problem, then they might factor that in. For example, this turn of events may have been what was supposed to happen, and develop the storyline to allow Kensei to turn evil and still alllow some sort of legend to exist.

    I think Hiro will bring Kensei to the future to cover up his power when they get caught in a large explosion that destroys the guns.  (making a clean break from history and being know as heroes that died for a cause).  I also think that after Hiro finds his father dead in the present he takes Kensei with him back in time to say his farewells and leaves Kensei with Kaito.  That would explain age differences and also allow for the "older" Dallas in the picture of the 12.

    If Kensei is brought to then present then healers can age normaly.

    If Kensei does NOT age I think he goes through history doing good deeds.

    ~~ he fathers children through time that have powers

    ~~which makes him not only the first but also the father

    ~~of all people with powers.

    ~~~Kensei 1st and with regeneration
    ~~~Claire has regeneration and also the S.T.C.S.T.W. catch-phrase

    ~~~could be interesting
    This might be a long shot theory...but could Kaito's killer be West? Since he has those 2 marks on his neck maybe he's taking revenge on the company members, probably pushed Kaito and flew off.  Maybe he knows that Claire is his daughter and hes just getting close to her to get to her dad.  Then he will turn on her and him which could BE what the 8th picture is showing of HRG being shot.  West couldve killed him without Claire seeing and once he shot him he flew to Claire and kissed her like the picture shows.
    I agree 100 per cent with this theory, but at the same time I think I'll be disappointed if it turns out to be true. Most of the signs point to Kensei as Kaito's killer -- his symbol on the pictures (although I've argued before it's tough to use the symbol as any kind of evidence as it is so prevalent in the show), his ability to regenerate, a motive (be it anger towards Hiro or something from pre-season one that led to the estrangement of the original 12). This is intertwined with the theory that Kensei is the Petrelli's father. That gives him an extra motive to kill Kaito (the alleged affair between Kaito and Angela Petrelli). For somebody who would be 400 years old, faking a death and remerging as a new person would be commonplace (a la Highlander). There is also the fact that in the picture of 12 Mr. Petrelli is the only one not looking at the camera (I've mentioned this in another post, drawing the similarity to Judas in DaVinci's The Last Supper). Now with all that said, back to my disappointment if Kensei turns out to be the killer and Mr. Petrelli. I want to be shocked. This all seems obvious to me (understanding that it doesn't to others), but when the killer is revealed, I want to have a "Holy Shit!" moment.
    I was just reading the latest posts in the Kaito's Killer thread, and think Peter would be the perfect candidate for the Holy Shit moment I'm seeking. I've thought of Peter before as the killer as he has both the power and motive to do what has been done (killing Kaito and attacking his mother). His power allows him to fly or regenerate -- marking what happened in Kaito's murder. He can go invisible and teleport, covering the attack on Angela in the police station. He also has a grudge with most of the original 12, as they, including his mom, were willing to let him explode and take half of New York with him. What piqued my interest in that other thread was the possibility of the killer being Peter from the future. Is is possible that after he finds out what happens in 2008 to kill 93 per cent of the population, he traces it back to the virus and systematically tries to wipe out the people responsible for unleasing it on the world? Again, this borrows heavily from a Season One story arc, in future Hiro tracing back events to having to save the Cheerleader from Sylar (remember all the string he had criss-crossing Isaac's studio?) to save the world from the explosion. Just an alternative theory to put out there.
    That is an interesting alternative theory - I've heard peter as an option before but quickly dismissed it. But the idea of Peter from the future after seeing the virus''s effect makes it more likely.
    But I still definitely think it's Kensei.
