The Hatian has the ability to affect people's mind (memory). If you recall the Invisible Man taught Peter to use his powers by telling him to "remember how he felt". That is how he blocks the ability for others to use thier powers. About learning how to fight and such, through other's memories is a good possibility. But remember the quiet ones are always the dangerous ones.

I have to disagree with you ThatGuy...The invisible man was teaching Peter "You have to remember how it feels" concept because he is a sponge...and to bring out who evers ability Peter wants to use He needs to feel that....The Haitain doesnt need to feel anything...that Power is his naturally. He can block naturally.

The Haitian erase and by extension "affect" memories. Therefore when he uses his negation ability, I believe he temporaly erases one's memory of how to use his ability.

There is something very significant about the Haitian.
Sylar gains more powers because of his initial power to be able to understand how something works simply by looking at it.
So he takes out the brains of these people with special powers, looks at what is in the brain giving them their special power and then somehow re-engineers his own brain to be able to do the power that they could.
The thing is... the Haitian has an inate ability to stop that thing in the brain that is allowing these guys to have these special powers.
What is also significant about the Haitian is that he told Claire that he will appear when the wind chimes sound. Does this mean he can teleport or fly?
His dad had the powers to incite despair or elation in people - he had the power of people's emotions.
I don't think anyone can actually kill the Haitian and I think he will develop in to a very significant character.

That said... I've only seen the first series.
So if he does die... then I stand corrected!
