At last week’s Grand Slam XVI Sci Fi Summit in Burbank, California, Heroes star Zachary Quinto was interviewed alongside Leonard Nimoy.
Each actor will take on the role of Spock in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek remake, with Quinto receiving the bulk of the screen time. Here are a few excerpts from TV Guide’s interview with the stars:
TV Guide: What do you think J.J. brings to Star Trek? Quinto: Everything. He brings his ability to execute his vision — which is basically unparalleled — a really generous spirit, a lot of respect for the people he works with and the people who work with him, a sense of humor and some mad beat-boxing skills. In between takes, actually.
TV Guide: Is this a crazy movie to promote, because of all the secrecy? Nimoy: There’s always been an issue of trying to protect the secrecy of the next Star Trek movie, whichever one it was. There are people who make it their business to try to get their hands on the script and be able to say, “I got it and I can tell you what’s happening.” In this particular case it’s been a very special effort on the part of those people to break through the security barrier, and as a result the security has been stronger than it ever has been before.
Quinto: I think the speed with which people get their information now makes it more of a problem. The first day I shot the movie, before it was over J.J. came to me with his phone and showed me a picture that he had downloaded from the internet of us standing in the room that we were still shooting in. It was already on the Internet! That’s actually what instigated the heightened security.
The next day I showed up and we had floor-length vinyl jackets with hoods [to cover costumes] and golf carts that were completely enclosed in black tarp. That persisted through the entire shoot, even when we were on the lot at Paramount. People were worried about camera phones and digital cameras and it’s understandable because there were a couple of times that a background actor or someone who was working on the crew would snap a couple of photos and they would inadvertently end up on the Internet, and that’s just a headache for the legal departments.
People think they want to know, but they don’t want to know. It’s going to ruin the experience for them.

Milo Ventimiglia appeared on Live with Regis and Kelly! this morning. During the broadcast, the man that makes female viewers soon as Peter Petrelli admitted that acting may have been his first love… but there were others.
“I had a couple options,” Milo said.“One, I wanted to be an actor. Two, I wanted to be a doctor. And third, I wanted to be a fighter pilot.”
Despite the fulfillment of his initial dream, Ventimiglia - whose new movie Pathology opens on April 18 - got to live out another one during the recent hiatus from Heroes, he said:
“During the strike, when Hollywood was shut down, [I went up in a fighter plane]. And I also spent some time with the Air Force Reserves. It was amazing. It was one of the coolest things I’d ever done to see what these pilots put themselves through, the training, what the planes are capable of.”

Heroes doesn’t return until mid-September. But here’s some good news, fans:
You won’t have to wait until the fall a superhero conspiracy fix, according to Entertainment Weekly. In what series writer Chuck Kim calls ”a mini-spin-off,” a new installment of a web comic, focusing on the show’s mysterious Company will debut each Tuesday, beginning April 15.
”We’re basically focusing on a group of agents within the Company,” says Kim, who also penned this online story arc, which will run weekly for five months. ”We’ll be seeing Bob and Elle and The Haitian in there, and we’ll be touching on HRG. The story will start at right about the end of season two.”
Lastly, here’s a juicy tidbit: ”We’ll learn that there’s someone within the Company who’s trying to bring it down.”

Heroes star Ali Larter graces yet another cover of Lucky Magazine for its May 2008 issue (she was also on the March 2007 cover).
Here’s what she had to say regarding fashion:
On her style: “I like my clothes to be able to take on my mood rather than tell me my mood. When something looks great on me, I don’t even question it. I just buy it, because who knows when I’ll find the next just-right thing?”
On wearing a gigantic new engagement ring to the cover shoot: “I’ve never been a huge jewelry girl, but I’m never taking this off.” (She’s engaged to longtime boyfriend, actor Hayes MacArthur.)
The third season of Heroes will premiere on September 15. But that isn’t the only piece of major news recently released by NBC co-chairman Ben Silverman.
“We consciously chose to rest [Heroes] this spring so that [creator] Tim Kring and his team could get ahead of the creative and build up to a massive event–a three-hour Heroes night,” Silverman said during the network’s upfront presentation to advertisers in New York on April 2.
“On Monday, Sept. 15, we’ll kick off with a Heroes clip show to try to bring back the audience and [then air] a massive two-hour Heroes film.”
