Amazon to Show Episodes of Heroes

heroes_keyart.jpg NBC Universal said this week it will sell episodes of its new fall television shows using Amazon's Unbox digital download service.

Amazon.com and NBC Universal said episodes of Heroes are available for $1.99 on Unbox, while new episodes will be added the day after they air. Fans can buy an entire season at once.

The NBC content can be played, without commercials, on the computer screen or on a TV via a Web-enabled TiVo set-top box.

NBC Universal, which is majority owned by General Electric, has said it wants to package programming in different ways at different prices, something Amazon is willing to consider, according to Jean-Briac Perrette, president of NBC Universal's digital-distribution division.

Heroes Spoilers: Season Two Promo in Canada

This isn't really a Heroes spoiler because it's a promo that's been running in Canada and will soon be shown on NBC here.

Nevertheless, we wanted to warn readers who really don't wish to see a second of season two.

In the following clip, we see:

  • The first appearance of Dania Ramirez and her brother, fleeing what looks like a border patrol truck;
  • Peter in some type of prison, getting the crap beat out of him;
  • Hiro and and a very non-Japanese Kensei (David Anders) in Feudal Japan;
  • Mohinder giving his "the world is at stake!" speech.

Hayden Panettiere: Three Cheers for Heroes DVD, Season Two

Hayden Panettiere is almost through with the Heroes world tour and filming on season two will begin again shortly.

First, however, the young actress spoke with Hollywood.com about the show's awesome first season DVD, among other topics...

Hollywood.com: What special extras did you get involved with for the DVD release?
Hayden Panettiere: There are commentaries and there's a ton of deleted scenes, which I didn't knowingly participate in. There's 50 deleted scenes. And it's incredible looking back at it now, and actually--I'm not going to lie, I'm watching it right now, and it's incredible how many scenes you just totally forget were deleted. And you're like "Oh, that's where that scene went."

Answering Questions But it's really fun to watch because we really had limited time. It's only an hour show, and especially with the pilot and stuff you have such limited time to explain all this information that you need to know before you can really get into the gut of this show. Which is why we have the two-hour pilot [on the DVD]--it really explains other characters.

HW: When you said you're watching it right now, does that mean it's running on your TV set right now as we speak?
HP: It's running on my TV set right now, and I'm yelling at my brother (Jansen Panettiere) as he's turning the volume up.

HW: The DVD's loaded with a ton of bonus features. What would you recommend people starting with? What's your favorite?
HP: I would say it would depend if they've seen the show or not. If they haven't seen the show, I would say watch the pilot, the two-hour pilot. I would say watch that first and then maybe the deleted scenes. I'm having fun watching the deleted scenes, but that's probably only because I know what was deleted and what wasn't. There's some great stuff. There's some goofy commentary.

Like, I'm talking goofy commentary. I mean, I think I remember my commentary and I think they probably edited it, but everything on it is great. I love DVDs when you get to go and look at the extras and find certain things, but people have fun with it.

HW: When Season 2 picks up, where will we find Claire, and how do we build up to this new relationship with the new love interest, West (Nick D'Agosto)?
HP: It's four months from where we left off last season and Claire's really trying to be, just trying to get in touch with her inner teen self once again. She hasn't given that up and I think it'd be a sad thing if she did. And she's struggling to fit in, but not stand out and obviously they're still hiding and running from these people. And West - you know, I think the funny thing about Claire is that, as much as she has that beautiful naivety about her and as sweet as she is, she does have a spitfire. She has that sass about her so it's fun to watch her, but I think when she meets West…I mean, you guys will see.

"Company Man" Recap, Quotes, Photos & More

Last night, NBC re-aired our favorite episode from season one.

Jack Coleman and Greg Grunberg hosted "Company Man," during which we learned about Mr. Bennet's past - and discovered that he's far more of a loving father than an evil henchman. Not everyone saw that coming.

Did you miss the episode either time around? Or just wish to refresh your memory? Do so now with our online recap of the hour, along with various quotes and Heroes photos (like the one below) from the program.

Bang! Bang!

Next week: Sendhil Ramamurthy and Zachary Quinto host "Parasite."

And, remember, on September 24: It's the Heroes season two premiere!

Heroes Caption Contest VI

As usual, we appreciate all the readers that submitted entries for this week's Heroes Caption Content. They provided many laughs.

But the man with the user name of "Manuel" made us chuckle the hardest, simply by having Nathan give Peter the most basic of brotherly advice.

Hayden Panettiere Models Her Very Own Earrings

To paraphrase a Heroes tagline:

Dress like the cheerleader. Impress the world.

While Hayden Panettiere wears a white mustache in Got Milk ads, she's sporting something very different in the photo below: a pair of earrings named after herself!

The actress recently donned the intricately designed 14k gold fill double hoops, dubbed "The Hayden," and crafted by jewelry maker Melanie Auld, at this year's Comic Con. Follow our link now to purchase your own pair.

Heroes Land in Singapore: Ali Larter Confides in Greg Grunberg

The Heroes world tour touched down in Singapore over the weekend.

Two of the actors on the trip - Greg Grunberg and Ali Larter - conferred at a microphone before answering questions from reporters.

But our spies overheard their conversation. And it was focused on an unfortunate incident from early in the season...

Lei

Ali: Hey, sorry about throwing you out a window and everything.

Greg: That's okay. We all go a little crazy sometimes.

BBC Two Strikes Deal for Heroes in England

heroes.jpgBBC Two has struck a deal with NBC that will give the British channel first refusal on future seasons of Heroes. The network is currently showing the 23 episodes of the first series, with the second to follow.

Under the deal, the BBC will have the option of buying all content beyond the second season at a pre-agreed price.

As it has in American, Heroes is doing very well overseas. In July, the show's debut on BBC Two captured an audience of 4.3 million, a sizable figure in Great Britain.

In a statement, BBC said: "We're delighted to have secured an exclusive ongoing deal with NBC Universal. This means that if NBC Universal produce more seasons of Heroes (beyond season two, which is already in production) the BBC can buy them at a pre-agreed price.

This ensures that the BBC can continue to show Heroes at a cost that represents real value for money."

Heroes Spoilers, Images from Season Two

The following photos have from season two of Heroes have been leaked:

New High School

Doesn't look like Claire (Hayden Panettiere) is attending Union Wells High School anymore. Other Heroes spoilers have revealed that she's somewhere in California.

Looking Dapper

This isn't the Ando we remember, is it? James Kyson Lee looks rather dressed up in this image.

In Toronto, Cast Mum on Heroes Spoilers

Looks like there's one super power actors on our favorite show share: an immunity to Heroes spoilers.

Despite all attempts at cajolery, four cast members and an executive producer, in Canada this week to promote Heroes, kept the secrets of the series' second season to themselves. It's not an easy task when being peppered for information.

"It's really cool that they're actually letting us do it, to actually stop production for a week and go and interact with the fans. I mean, we're really such a fan-based show, and this kind of interaction is so important," said James Kyson Lee, who plays Ando. "The fact that we're going all over the world because the show is showing globally now, it's such a huge component."

Fun Up NorthHeroes has just finished filming the sixth episode of the new season.

Along with Lee, the Toronto contingent included Zachary Quinto; Noah Gray-Cabey, and new cast member Dania Ramirez. Executive producer and writer Jeph Loeb also came along.

The man who portrays Sylar (Quinto) talked about the infusing of guest stars this year.

"It's great to have new energy on the show," said Quinto. "Everybody on this show knows that means forgoing some of your own exposure to include other people, and that's really an important part of our ensemble... I don't think there's anything but excitement about the new people coming aboard."

Dania Ramirez joins the regular cast as Maya, a woman whose powers are connected to her twin brother. But she won't reveal much about her character.

"She is found in Central America, and she is on the run because of her ability and it's making her journey up north a lot more difficult, because she's coming to America illegally and with her brother."

Of course, having such a large cast means that characters can become expendable. Is one of them Micah?

"There is one thing that I would like for my character this season. I would like him not to die," said Gray-Cabey.

Meanwhile, there's one secret or spoiler that Quinto himself doesn't even know.

"I feel like the mystery is the fun of the show, the fact that people are always like `Do you eat them? How do you eat them? You must eat them. You don't eat them, do you?' That's kind of cool and the lure of this character and the show," he says. "It's indicative of the water cooler nature of the show."
