There's a problem when Heroes leaps into the future: the show can make anything up because, hey, that future is never gonna actually take place anyway!

Cases in point: Daphne is now married to Matt?!? And working with an evil Claire?!? If this is anything like the Season One episode, Five Years Gone, we'll never actually learn how these developments take place; we're just expected to accept them as fact so the show, in its present day form, can save us from this supposedly fatal future.

Do you see the trouble with this logic? The lazy writing involved?

We try to watch with an open mind, and we maybe the show will take us on a path this season that reasonably leads to a potential future such as the one depicted in "I Am Become Death," but we're not hopeful. Read the full episode recap now.

So, did "Four Months Ago" live up to the hype?

We loved the closing sequence, where it was quickly laid out just how Peter arrived in his modern-day situation (i.e. the passport, Haitian necklace, etc.), but felt like a majority of the episode was boring and drawn out. A lot of Peter just lying around in a prison bed.

Wow. Now that was a Heroes episode that reminded us of all we love about the show.

As loyal Heroes viewers, we hope and pray that tonight's ending at least laid the groundwork for a story line that will give all characters a common purpose.

Hiro is still nothing but a lovelorn shell of his former self in Japan? Claire is resigned to plots about joining the cheerleading squad? Mohinder is the whipping boy of the company and the only interesting aspect of last week's episode - Parkman and his father - isn't even mentioned?

We still love Heroes - and we have faith characters will come together and action will pick up - but this episode moved at a snail's pace, didn't it?

It was great to see Kristen Bell back on TV, her story line intrigues us... but everything else is moving along very slowly. What happened to the inspired Hiro who was on a mission to save the world last season? He's been reduced to the third wheel in an ancient love story now.

We're begging the writers to let these characters embrace their abilities again and find a common cause to rally around. If last season was Save the Cheerleader, Save the World, this season so far has been:
