Based on the season two premiere, Heroes will be focusing on the older generation a bit more this year.
That probably sounds great to Cristine Rose, who plays the infamous mother to Nathan and Peter Petrelli. She recently spoke with TV Guide:
TVGuide.com: It’s been a blast loving Mama Petrelli even though we can’t trust her.
Rose: Oh, I think she’s just misunderstood and misguided! I have to play her with the intent that she’s good and that she’s a nurturer… yet a nurturer who’s not averse to violence. This part really juices me up!
TVGuide.com: Word is, she drops quite a bombshell in the Oct. 15 episode.
Rose: Yes, the shocking confession. It’s about the murder. She is in the thick of it. She has a lot of secrets, and she’ll be doling them out.
TVGuide.com: Well, if I were you, I’d dole them out very slowly — especially with this death-card thing hanging over your head. Of course, nothing is ever what it seems on your show.
Rose: And things can turn at any given moment. Every time I think I have Angela pinned down as to who and what she is, I’ll read the next script and everything has changed. Last season I took some solace in the fact that I wasn’t heavier in the stories because that meant there was no need or interest in killing me. As exciting as things are for me on the show these days, I am now a marked woman! But… [Pregnant pause]
TVGuide.com: But what?
Rose: Are we really sure Angela is not a part of [Kaito's death]? I will tell you this about the next few episodes: My character crosses paths with the other heroes and none of them are very happy about it.
TVGuide.com: Angela’s fury toward her son Nathan [Adrian Pasdar] is a fearsome thing to behold.
Rose: Not only did Nathan destroy all her plans that had been building up for decades, she blames him for killing her beloved son Peter [Milo Ventimiglia]. It’s all blown up in her face. They’ve got me doing monologue after monologue like Lear, just ranting and raving.

Executive Producer Greg Beeman runs his own blog about the series. He recently updated it with a bit of information about the planning of season two. You can check it out here.
Below, though, we’re posted a series of candid Heroes photos taken by Beeman, as well as his thoughts/captions regarding the actors in them.
Enjoy:

New regulars Dania Ramirez and Shalim Ortiz star as Maya and Alejandro, respectively. Beema says they will “hook up with one of last year’s [Heroes] in a surprising way.

David Anders stars as a samurai warrior. Even though, yes, he’s white.

Meet another new Hero: Dana Davis stars as Monica.

Beeman said artist Tim Sale (who drew all of Isaac’s creations on the show) made this shirt for Jack Coleman during Comic-Con. We love it.

Following the announcement that NBC had ended its relationship with iTunes, many Heroes followers were left to wonder where they’d get their fix away from the television screen.
Here’s the answer:
NBC today discussed the launch of its new service, “NBC Direct,” which will allow users to download and view NBC’s popular primetime and late-night entertainment programming on their desktops for up to one week after broadcast.
This new feature provides yet another platform on which fans will be able to enjoy NBC Entertainment content. The announcement was made by Vivi Zigler, Executive Vice President, NBC Digital Entertainment.
“With the creation of this new service, we are acknowledging that now, more than ever, viewers want to be in control of how, when and where they consumer their favorite entertainment,” said Zigler. “Not only does this feature give them more control, but it also gives them a higher quality video experience.”
The first version of this new feature, which will begin beta testing in October, will allow users to download full length episodes for viewing on Windows based PCs. Each original episode will be licensed to users for viewing through “NBC Direct” for one week following broadcast and will then expire. The downloaded file will provide users with an improved overall viewing experience compared to traditional streaming video.
The list of programs available at launch will include “Heroes,” “The Office,” “Life,” “Bionic Woman,” “30 Rock,” “Friday Night Lights,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

Del Rey, an imprint of Ballantine Books at the Random House Publishing Group, has announced plans to publish a novel based on Heroes.
“Heroes: Saving Charlie” will be authored by Aury Wallington and will be an original novel based on the Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) and Charlie (Jayma Mays) relationship.
“One of the more memorable relationships in Season One was Hiro’s first love, the waitress Charlie. We were as smitten as Hiro by that story and seized the chance to tell the full adventure of Hiro’s six months in the past.
Aury Wallington was hand picked by the writers of the show for her brilliant voice for these characters. The novel is a welcome addition to the Heroes family,” said Tim Kring.

The book - written with the full cooperation of the show’s creators - will tell the story of Hiro and his mission to save Charlie from being brutally murdered by Sylar (Zachary Quinto).
While fans of the television series were given only a brief glimpse into Hiro and Charlie’s relationship as it grew into love over six time-changing months, their history is told here with the depth and insight that only a novel will allow.
Del Rey celebrated the announcement of its Heroes book at the 2007 San Diego International Comic-Con by asking fans to help make 1,000 cranes at their booth by the end of the show.

Bryan Fuller has been hard at work for months.
The Heroes writer is also the mind behind a new ABC show, Pushing Daisies.
And he recently admitted that the success of the former helped him land a deal for the latter.
The combination of dark and light, death and hope, that is so prominent on Heroes is also the basis for Daisies. It’s about a pie maker who has the power to raise the dead with a single touch.
At one point, Fuller was simultaneously writing the 17th episode of Heroes and penning the first one for his new show.
“A guy can touch dead people once and bring them back to life,” said Fuller of Pushing Daisies. “And if he touches them again, they go back to being dead. Problem is, he touches a dead girl, falls in love with her and can never touch her again.”
Sounds worth a viewing or two to us.

Heroes News
The cast of Heroes headed to Canada as part of the show’s world tour earlier this summer.
Now, according to The Toronto Sun, the series itself will actually stage a storyline in a “major city” up north during season two.
Tim Kring, the creator of Heroes, made the announcement yesterday through a pre-taped video message that was played to fans at a public gathering in Toronto.
“Actually, the storyline is going to take us to a certain part of Canada,” Kring said. “Obviously, we’re going to shoot it here in L.A. But the story line will take us to a major city in Canada.”
Executive Producer Jeph Loeb was in Toronto last Thursday, as were cast members Zachary Quinto, James Kyson Lee, Noah Gray-Cabey and newcomer Dania Ramirez.
“Well, if (Kring) didn’t reveal (specifically which Canadian city it’s going to be), then I can’t do that yet,” Loeb said. “But it is a major metropolis, and it actually is important.
“It’s one of the many mysteries that you’ll have.”

Heroes News
DC Comics has come out with the release date for the upcoming Heroes graphic novel Volume 1. It will hit stores on November 7.
The unique book collects the Heroes online comics into one large tome. Here’s more information from the company’s press release about it:
On November 7, DC Comics will publish Heroes, a hardcover graphic novel collection based on NBC’s Emmy and Golden Globe nominated television series Heroes, featuring covers by comic book superstars Alex Ross and Jim Lee and an introduction by star Masi Oka.

The stories, which mark the first printed graphic novel adaptation of the show, were originally created for the Heroes website at NBC.com, where new chapters continue to be exclusively available.
The collection spotlights the fluid artwork of legendary comic book artist Tim Sale, whose work was featured prominently during the first season of the series through the visuals created by a drug-addled painter with apocalyptic visions of the future.
